God of War Ragnarok’s PSN Removal Mod disappears from Nexus Mods
PSN Removal Mod creator pulls their mod over fears of Sony action
Earlier this week, we reported on a mod for the PC version of God of War Ragnarok that removes the game’s PlayStation Network (PSN) requirement. Now, this PSN Removal mod has been removed from Nexus Mods, with Nexus Mods confirming that the mod was removed by its creator.
The mod’s creator, iArtoriasUA, removed the mod over fears of action from Sony. Simply put, the mod received too much media coverage, and the mod’s creator didn’t want to be threatened by Sony.
Sony’s PlayStation Network login requirements have been controversial for all games it has been implemented into. This is especially true for single player-only games like God of War Ragnarok. Simply put, this is an unnecessary requirement that only restricts the access of PC games to PlayStation PC games. After all, Sony’s PlayStation Network is not available in all countries.
We've had a chat with the mod author about this and can confirm that the mod was removed due to a personal decision after it received significant traction, including coverage from prominent news outlets, to avoid any future action by Sony. pic.twitter.com/rsMp3YEqnO
