Guardians of the Galaxy is now available for free on PC through the Epic Games Store

Epic Games ends its festive free game promotion with a bang

Until January 11th, PC gamers will be able to grab a free copy of The Game Awards 2021’s “Best Narrative” winner Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This is the last game that Epic Games are giving away as part of their festive free games promotion. During this event the storefront give away a free game every day over the holidays.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (GOTG) is an action-adventure game from Eidos-Montreal that’s based on the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book series. The game features many Mass Effect style elements. Player choices can impact both how missions progress and how relationships develop between the game’s characters.

Following the failure of Marvel’s Avengers in 2020, GOTG was not a highly anticipated release. Both games were published by Square Enix, and both are Marvel branded titles. That’s where the similarity between both games end. Guardians of the Galaxy reviewed well at launch, and has won many awards. Sadly, this game did not meet Square Enix’s sales expectations.

Since launch, GOTG has been updated to increase the game’s performance on PC and consoles. The game has also become “Steam Deck Verified“, which means that the game runs well on Valve’s low-cost PC gaming handheld.

On January 11th, Sail Forth will become the Epic Games Store’s next free game. Throughout 2024, Epic Games plans to continue giving away free games on a weekly basis.

PC gamers can grab their copy of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on the Epic Games Store.
