Here’s what you need to run Valorant on PC – This game targets 144Hz on modern systems

This summer, Riot Games plans to release a new competitive shooter called Valorant, which intends to blend the skill-based precision gameplay of first-person-shooters like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with the unique character powers of games like Overwatch.

With Valorant, Riot Games plans to offer players minimal latency, high server tick rates and support for extremely high framerates. Modern PCs are expected to run this game at 144Hz with ease, making this game ideal for competitive play, even on relatively low-end systems.

Riot’s Valorant servers are designed to run Valorant with a tick rate of 128, which means that Valorant’s servers will be updated 128 timed every second, making the game extremely responsive to each player’s actions. Combine this with the promise of sub-35ms ping times in “major cities around the world”, and FPS fans should be more than confident of the game’s competitive focus.

Riot Games has released early PC system requirements for Valorant, confirming that the game can run at 144 FPS on as little as an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti and an Intel i5-4460 processor, neither of which are high-end by today’s standards. Valorant is designed to run using Microsoft’s DirectX 11 API.

Minimum (30 fps):

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
RAM: 4 GB
CPU: Intel i3-370M
GPU: Intel HD 3000 (1GB VRAM)

Recommended (60 fps):

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
RAM: 6 GB
CPU: Intel i3-4150
GPU: Nvidia GT 730

High-end (144 fps):

OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
RAM: 8 GB
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2 GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti

PC gamers can be sure that Valorant won’t be a system melter when it releases this summer, with Riot focusing their free-to-play shooter on playability and high framerates rather than high-end graphics and overly complex visuals.
