Incredible speeds! Sabrent plans to showcase their 14+ GB/s Rocket 5 PLUS SSD soon

Sabrent plans to push the limits of PCIe 5.0 at CES 2024

According to Tweaktown, Sabrent plans to showcase the fruits of their PCIe 5.0 SSD design efforts at CES 2024. At the event, Sabrent plans to showcase their new “Rocket 5 PLUS” SSD, a PCIe 5.0 M.2 SSD that’s capable of 14+ GB/s speeds. This is much faster than any currently available PCIe 5.0 SSD.

Yes, PCIe 5.0 SSDs have been available for most of 2023, but these drives tend to deliver speeds of 10GB/s or 12GB/s. Sabrent plans to saturate the PCIe 5.0 interface, doubling the performance feats of the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSDs.

With their planned Rocket 5 PLUS SSD, Sabrent plans to utilise Phison’s PS5026-E26 “Max14um” SSD controller. This is a refined version of Phison’s existing E26 SSD controller that features the company’s I/O+ technology. This helps to deliver higher performance levels than older E26 SSDs.

Sabrent claims to have been working with Phison on their I/O+ technology, which has helped both companies push past the 14 GB/s barrier.

Sabrent’s planned Rocket 5 PLUS SSD is shaping up to be an impressive SSD, and we look forward to the day that we can run it through its paces. We respect the fact that Sabrent has not rushed a PCIe 5.0 SSD to market to capitalise on early sales, and look forward to seeing how the market reacts to Sabrent’s boundary-pushing PCIe 5.0 SSD when it arrives. Do you think it will take long for competitors to catch up?
