Marvel’s Spider-Man will be a “Permanent” exclusive for PS4

Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider-Man will not be coming to PC or Xbox One after the title’s PS4 release on September 7th, dashing all hope for the emergence of the highly anticipated game outside of Sony’s PlayStation ecosystem.

On Twitter, Insomniac stated that “It is 100% exclusive and permanently so” after some gamers speculated that the game would be coming to Xbox One after the game’s initial launch on PS4. On another occasion when asked how long it would take for the game to release on Xbox One, Insomniac replied with one word “never”.

Spider-Man will likely be one of Sony’s big E3 2018 showpieces, with older demos showcasing spectacular visuals that appear more like a pre-rendered animation than a real-time game, building upon Insomniac’s previous work on their PS4 Ratchet and Clank remake.

Insomniac Games are famous for their console-exclusive titles, creating Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man for PlayStation, Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One and Edge of Nowhere, The Unspoken and Feral Rites for the Oculus Rift. Insomniac’s Spider-Man will be following a long line of Platform exclusive titles.

Spider-Man will release for PS4 on September 7th, with support for Sony’s PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles on day-1.
