It looks like RAGE 2 will be exclusive to the Bethesda Launcher

Earlier this week, Bethesda released their “Open World” trailer for RAGE 2, confirming that the game will release on May 14th, 2019. Shortly after this announcement, pre-orders for the game went live for all platforms, though the game’s PC version is only available to order on Bethesda’s launcher.

Fallout 76 released earlier this year as an exclusive title for Bethesda’s launcher, preventing PC gamers from accessing the title on 3rd party storefronts like Steam. Right now, it appears as if Bethesda is planning to release RAGE 2 exclusively on Bethesda.net, avoiding the fees associated with using said storefronts.

While it makes a lot of financial sense to avoid Steam, given their 30% cut of all PC game sales, exclusivity to Bethesda’s launcher will no doubt force some customers to stay away from the game, especially after the company’s recent security issues. In recent history, Fallout 76’s Beta filed were found to be undeletable within the Bethesda launcher and a recent glitch in the company’s support forum allowed the support information and personal info of customers to be leaked onto the web.

At this time Bethesda has not confirmed whether or not RAGE 2 is exclusive to their Bethesda launcher on PC, though for now, it is clear that the company is trying to force more PC gamers onto their platform.
