It’s official; no PS4 – Call of Duty is abandoning last-gen
The next Call of Duty game isn’t coming to PlayStation 4
Over the weekend, rumours began circulating that the next Call of Duty game is being developed for last-generation consoles. This means that the game was being developed with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in mind. In response to these rumours, Activision has used their official Call of Duty account to confirm that the next Call of Duty “is not being developed for PS4”. This should mean that the game is current-gen only.
Strangely, Activision only stated that the game is not coming to PlayStation 4. Xbox One was not mentioned. Perhaps this is a hint that the game will be available on Xbox One via Xbox Cloud Gaming. After all, it would make no sense for a game to come to Xbox One and not PlayStation 4.
By abandoning last-generation consoles, Activision should be able to better leverage modern gaming systems. This could result in a significant leap in the series’ graphics or technology. Call of Duty 2026 will be the first game in the series to lack PS4 support since 2013’s Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.

At this time, it is unknown if the next Call of Duty game will come to Nintendo’s Switch 2 console. Microsoft did agree to release the Call of Duty series on a Nintendo platform following its acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. However, it remains to be seen if Microsoft will release its next Call of Duty game on Switch 2.
