Just Cause 4’s PC System Requirements Released

Avalanche Studios has officially released Just Cause 4’s PC system requirements, including standard Minimum and recommended hardware specifications as well as 4K-specific system specs. 

Storage-wise, the game will take up around 59GB of HDD/SSD space, though the game’s storage requirements are unknown for 4K users, suggesting that the game will have an optional 4K texture pack for PC gamers.

Strangely, Just Cause 4’s PC system requirements have gotten lower since the series’ last outing, at least when it comes to minimum CPU specs, moving from an Intel i5-2500K with Just Cause 3 to an i5-2400 for Just Cause 4. On the AMD side, we see Just Cause 4 move from an AMD Phenom II 1075T to an FX-6300, a move that was likely dictated by AVX support. 

Avalanche has stated that their Apex Engine has “evolved” to allow the studio to “squeeze every drop of power from PC hardware”, a move which will likely result in performance levels which are much better than the game’s predecessor, which left us disappointed back in 2015. 
 

 
The game’s minimum GPU requirements are a GTX 760 on the Nvidia side and an R9 270 on the AMD side, both of which have a 2GB of VRAM. In terms of recommended specs, Avalanche recommends AMD’s RX Vega 56 and Nvidia’s GTX 1070, both of which are considered high-end graphics cards. At this time it is unknown what settings, framerates or resolutions these system requirements target. 

Moving up to 4K we see Avalanche’s hardware recommendations take a significant shift, moving up to a GTX 1080 Ti and higher-end processors from both AMD and Intel. 4K doesn’t typically require much more CPU power than lower resolutions, though it does have an impact, explaining why these hardware bumps are small when relatively small.

Just Cause 4 will release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on December 4th.
