Layers of Fear PC system requirements have arrived, and a free demo is launching next week

Layers of Fear will soon have a PC demo – Here’s what you will need to run this Unreal Engine 5 Horror remake

Blooper Team have released the PC system requirements for Layers of Fear, their Unreal Engine 5 remake of their psychological horror game. On top of that, the Studio has also confirmed that a PC demo for the game will be release next Monday.

Layers of Fear will utilise Unreal Engine 5’s latest features, including the engine’s Nanite and Lumen technologies. The game will also make use of Unreal Engine 5’s Temporal Super Resolution technology, which is effectively Unreal Engine 5’s built-in competitor to DLSS, FSR and XeSS.

The good news for PC gamers is that Layers of Fear appears to be a highly scalable title on PC, with the game’s minimum system requirements listing Nvidia’s GTX 1060 3GB and AMD’s RX 580 4GB. That said, when ray tracing is enabled, the game’s minimum GPU requirements shoot up to Nvidia’s RTX 207 0 and AMD’s RX 6800 XT for 1080p 60 FPS gameplay, when Temporal Super Resolution is uses.

Like most modern PC games, SSD based storage is recommended for Layers of Fear players, though the game’s storage requirements are low at 20GB. For its recommended system requirements for ray tracing, M.2 SSDs are recommended, which means that Blooper Team are recommending fast NVMe SSDs for this game, not older/slower SATA drives.

While Layers of Fear is a niche horror title, it is an exciting game for PC enthusiasts and analysts given the fact that it is one of the first Unreal Engine 5 games to become available. Will it run well on older gaming PCs, and does it avoid the stuttering issues that have plagued many Unreal Engine 4 games. I guess we will find out next week when the demo launches.
