Marvel Heroes Omega has officially shut down

Earlier this month, Disney ended their relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, the creators of Marvel Heroes, a Diablo-like Marvel themed Free-To-Play MMO. This game initially released back in 2014 on PC, rebranding several times to eventually become Marvel Heroes Omega, which launched on PS4 and Xbox One earlier this year.

This termination of their working relationship forced Gazillion Entertainment to shut down their game by the end of 2017, with plans to terminate the game’s servers on December 31st. With the loss of Marvel’s support, Gazillion has now been forced to close their doors, shutting down Marvel Heroes Omega almost immediately, closing down the game over a month earlier than initially planned.

Several reported have claimed that Gazillion has already had several rounds of layoffs in the past year, with the game already missing several regular community updates in the past few months. The developers of the game also failed to release the game’s promised “Gladiator Thor Pack”, which was set to release when Thor Ragnarok released in cinemas.

It seems clear now that Gazillion Entertainment was in muddy water long before Disney decided to pull the plug on Marvel Heroes, with the studio being unable to hold together for two weeks after the game’s closure was revealed.
