Microsoft Flight Simulator’s latest trailer highlights the evolution of the series

Microsoft Flight Simulator has been with us since 1982, and a lot has changed since then. Almost 40 years of hardware and software innovation have allowed the game’s visuals and simulator quality to enter into the realms of photorealism, thanks to the upcoming release of Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020).

Below is Microsoft’s latest trailer for Microsoft Flight Simulator, highlighting how the game has evolved since the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.0 in 1982.

While many of the older editions of Flight Simulator look awful by today’s standards, most of these titles were graphical showcases of their respective eras. Now,  the latest edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator takes the series’ visuals to new levels, offering a level of detail which was previously impossible. Microsoft’s technology allows everything to be modelled, from minor towns to full cities. Microsoft Flight Simulator may be the world’s most accurately modelled digital map.

On PC, Microsoft Flight Simulator will release on August 18th, releasing as a full retail release on the Microsoft Store and Steam. The game will also be available as part of Xbox Game Pass for PC, making the game more accessible than any of the series’ prior entires. An Xbox version of the title is also planned, which will bring the series to both Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
