Microsoft has now created a custom version of Windows 10 for the Chinese Government, which is said to address the security concerns that China has traditionally had with Windows-based OS’.

This new version of Windows was designed by China’s CTEC (China Electronics Technology Group), delivering what was previously seen an impossible, a version of the OS that doesn’t spy on its users and is secure enough to satisfy the Chinese Government.

In recent year China’s government has banned the use of Windows 8 due to security concerns and has heavily invested in a custom version of Linux Canonical, codenamed Kyjin. While this effort has created the Linux-based OS NeoKylin, it has failed to suit the needs of the Chinese government or gain any real popularity.

China is a huge market, one which in recent years has been a huge problem for Microsoft due to high rates of piracy and their disapproval of the Chinese government. This new development will help ensure that Microsoft gains additional market share in the region and the number of paying customers.

Now many will wonder how different this new version of Windows 10 is from its western counterparts, as a large number of PC users would certainly be interested in a version of Windows 10 without telemetry.
