Microsoft Showcases Halo: Infinite at E3 – Launches with Next-Gen

Halo: Infinite has been shown at E3 2019, with Microsoft confirming that the game will launch alongside the company’s next-generation Xbox Scarlett platform in Holiday 2020.

The game will release on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Scarlett simultaneously, utilising 343 Industries’ new Slipspace Engine to tap the “still-not-fully-tapped” power of the Xbox One while leveraging the unique capabilities of modern PC hardware and next-generation console tech.

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox Scarlett will utilise hardware accelerated ray tracing hardware, which will likely be utilised within Halo: Infinite. This is a big deal for PC gamers, as the Xbox Scarlett will utilise the same DXR API for Ray Tracing as what is already available on PC. In effect, Scarlett will force more game developers to utilise ray tracing on PC, making ray tracing a must-have feature as we move towards next-generation platforms. Halo: Infinite will follow the events of Halo 5: Guardians, but also act as a spiritual reboot for the series. The game will act as a great entry point for newcomers to the series, starting a new chapter in the life of the Chief, who has arrived in a universe at war.     The Master Chief returns in Halo Infinite – the next chapter of the legendary franchise launching holiday 2020 with Project Scarlett. Developed by 343 Industries for Xbox One, Windows 10, and Project Scarlett, Halo Infinite continues the Halo 5: Guardians storyline and takes the franchise in ambitious, unexpected directions. Powered by the all-new Slipspace Engine.

Halo: Infinite will release on Xbox One, Xbox Scarlett and PC in Holiday 2020.
