Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor’s latest trailer showcases the game’s Nemesis system
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor was a surprise hit back in 2014, giving gamers a lot of content to play through and an interesting look into the Lord of the Rings universe that is outside of the film series.Â
One of the key features of the game was its nemesis system, which dynamically created an Uruk hierarchy where enemies are promoted if they kill the player, allowing a unique story to be developed between the player and this specific Uruk Captain. Â
This feature created a lot of fanfare for the game, as players promoted their own captains and hunted down enemy commanders, with the game creating dynamic rivalries where each captain has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Monolith has created a new trailer for Middle Earth: Shadow of War, a sequel to Shadow of Mordor, placing a new emphasis on the nemesis system. In Shadow of War, both allied and enemy Orcs will have more variation than before and will have more unique reasons to despise or respect the player. Hopefully, this will help create more unique gameplay and story moments in Shadow of War.Â
