Octopath Traveler may be coming to PC
Octopath Traveler is a retro-style RPG with a unique “HD-2D” art style, merging the graphical styles of classic SNES RPGs with the perks of modern 3D hardware and rendering techniques, providing longtime RPG fans with a breathtaking, yet familiar, look and feel.Â
As an Unreal Engine 4 game, Octopath Traveler has a relatively easy gateway to other platforms, especially given the Nintendo Switch’s relative hardware weaknesses as a mobile-focused console. Now, it looks like the game may be coming to PC, bringing the RPG to a new selection of gamers.Â
These rumours have been sparked by a listing of “PC Octopath Traveler” on the Korean Game Ratings Committee, which has acted as the source of accurate PC conversion rumours for Sunset Overdrive and Okami HD.Â
Strangely, this listing has since disappeared from the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee’s website, but thankfully images of the original listing have been taken. The picture below comes courtesy of Resetera user Rodjer.Â
Another oddity is the game’s publisher being listed as Bandai Namco, despite the fact that Square Enix’s Division 11 developed the title. That said, this wouldn’t be the first time that Bandai Namco published a Square Enix title within that nation.Â
 Â
Given the listing removal from the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee’s website, we cannot say with any certainty whether or not the game will be released outside of Nintendo’s Switch platform. That said Square Enix would be leaving a lot of money on the table if they decided to keep the game locked onto Nintendo’s hardware.Â
