Over 70% of all PS3 games are now “playable” on RPCS3

Most PS3 games are now playable on PC through RPCS3

The RPCS3 team is entering 2026 on a high, as their PS3 emulator now classifies over 70% of PlayStation 3 games as “playable”. This means these games can now be completed with playable performance and game-breaking glitches.

With the PlayStation 3 soon turning 20, emulation has never been more important. Working PlayStation 3 hardware is becoming harder to find. To preserve the PlayStation 3 and its gaming library, emulation is becoming a go-to solution for many retro gaming enthusiasts. With emulation, most classic PS3 games are now playable on modern hardware. Furthermore, these games can be improved by increasing frame rates and rendering resolutions. Many PlayStation 3 games now look and play best on RPCS3.

While only 70% of PS3 games are classed as “Playable”, many more are fully playable on PCs with sufficiently powerful hardware. Many PS3 games classed as “in-game” only fail RPCS3’s “Playability” test due to “insufficient performance”. This means that many more PC games may run with playable performance levels with sufficiently powerful PC hardware.

New “Playable” games on RPCS3

Since August, several major PS3 games have been classed as “playable” on RPCS3. This includes MotorStorm, MotorStorm 3D Rift, Heavenly Sword, Little Big Planet 2, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

In 2025, RPCS3 also gained support for translations, various performance enhancements, enhanced overlay support and more. If 2025 is anything to go by, we can expect further performance improvements and increased game compatibility in 2026. Last week, RPCS3 gained support for Windows arm64 devices, making PS3 emulation available to even more PC users.
