Platinum Games confirms that they are working on a Nier: Automata PC patch

Nier Automata is a game that released with great reviews on all platforms, but that does not mean that the game was free of issues, especially on PC.

It has been 4 months since the release of Nier: Automata on PC and since then the game has not received any bug fixing patches, despite the game’s many issues on the platform. Several issues were present on AMD GPUs, though these were addressed with Radeon Software Crimson 17.5.2, though many issues still remain.

On PC the game has sold over half a million copies on PC, with fans of the game creating mods for the title to fix several issues, though until now it remained unclear whether or not an official patch will ever arrive. This eventually resulted in a huge backlash from fans of the game, with Square Enix delivering the following response to Eurogamer when asked about this issue.

Square Enix and PlatinumGames are working with PC device manufacturers, like AMD, to address the issues with the Steam version of the game because some of the issues are not what Square Enix and PlatinumGames alone can resolve fundamentally. With AMD’s help, Square Enix and PlatinumGames have successfully resolved some of the issues, and we hope to achieve similar results with other hardware makers. We appreciate your continued patience and support for NieR: Automata.

Here Square Enix pass off some of the blame to 3rd parties, especially AMD, stating that these were issues that Platinum Games and Square Enix could address on their own. The company then continued and stated that they were working on other fixes with additional hardware manufacturers.

This comments leaves a lot of uncertainty, neither stating what they plan on fixing and any timeframe for fixing it, though it is nice to hear that Square Enix is working on the game’s issues.
