Platinum Games would love to “port all of our games to PC”

PlatinumGames would love to “port all of our games to PC”, but sadly this decision is up to game publishers and not the developer themselves.
This means that Platinum Games cannot simply decide to release games like Bayonetta 2 or  Vanquish on PC without the permission of the publisher that funded the game’s development. A spokesperson from Platinum games has stated that Platinum has always looked at PC development positively and that they have moved to a new proprietary engine that is built with PC and cross-platform gaming in mind.

We developed Bayonetta 1 all by ourselves, and we optimized it for Xbox 360, which resulted in some issues when porting the game to other platforms,

We had to dive back in and change a lot about the internal structure when we ported it to Wii U, but I believe this experience helped us make the jump to PC go a lot smoother.

Our current proprietary engine is built with PC-based cross-platform development in mind, so I think it should be easier now to avoid similar problems in the future.

The same spokesperson also stated that Platinum would love to port all of their games to the PC platform, though that would require the backing of each game’s publisher.

While most publishers should be happy with the potential for profit by rereleasing classic titles on PC, there will no doubt be some publishers that would prefer to keep certain titles platform exclusive. The biggest example of this will be Nintendo, who published Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U.

if it were up to us, we’d port all of our games to PC, but it all depends on the publishers

We still feel strongly about putting more consideration into the PC market. If our current efforts prove successful, this will only make PC development more attractive.

In recent years several developers and publishers have made a lot of money by bringing their classic titles to the PC, like Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series and Capcom with Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, so it is likely that many 3rd party publishers will follow suit in the near future given the obvious demand for certain titles on PC.
