PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to leave Steam Early Access this December

In a recent press release from PUBG Corp, is has been revealed that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) will be released on Xbox One’s Game Preview program on December 12th, bringing the game to consoles for the first time.

In this press release, it has also been revealed that PUBG version 1.0 will be released in late December, bringing the game outside of Steam Early Access and deliver several new features and a new Desert Map to the game.

Both the PC and Xbox One versions of the game have different development roadmaps, though PUBG Corp’s plan is to eventually align both versions and deliver the same gameplay experience.

In addition to announcing Xbox’s XGP launch date on December 12, we also shared the exciting news that we’re on track to launch 1.0 for the PC version in late December. This has been an amazing year for us and launching both 1.0 on PC and on Xbox through Xbox Game Preview are huge milestones for the team. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time, but I’m even more excited to say that we’re just getting started.

One point of interest with PUBG’s Xbox One release is that the game’s console version will lack “any in-game purchases” in the game’s preview version, with Microsoft’s Xbox team working to create three “Limited Edition” cosmetics packs called the the PUBG Warrior Pack, the PUBG Accessory Pack and the PUBG Tracksuit Pack.

At this time it is unknown whether or not PUBG’s Xbox One version will eventually feature the same loot system as the game’s PC version.
