Spider-Man 2 PC Update 1 delivers crash fixes, DLSS improvements, and more
Expect “performance optimisations” with future Spider-Man 2 PC updates
Patch 1 for the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been released, and it contains a lot of fixes. For starters, we have several new crash fixes beyond those already included in the game’s prior hotfix updates. Additionally, we have updates to DLSS Ray Reconstruction and raytracing, addressing some visual bugs.
Nixxes has reported that there have been changes to Sony’s Crash Reporting System, which should help the company deliver more improvements to the game. Furthermore, we have confirmation that “performance optimisations” are coming with future game updates.
Below is what the Spider-Man PC team had to say about update 1;
Hey everyone,
Patch 1 for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PC is out now!
This update includes several crash fixes based on feedback from many of you and our crash reporting system. We really appreciate all of you helping us by providing information to make improvements.
This patch also adds menu toggles for Film Style Animation and Comic SFX, improvements to the way New Game+ can be started, and fixes for some visual bugs related to DLSS Ray Reconstruction and raytracing. We’ve also implemented a backup system for autosaves and fixed a range of UI related bugs.
Thanks to updates to Sony’s Crash Reporting System, we can now receive screenshots along with crash reports. This will give us additional insights into where issues occur frequently in the game. We are committed to improving your experience and continue to work on regular updates with more bug fixes, improvements and performance optimizations.
You may have given us feedback about something that is not included in this patch. We are aware of your reports and have posted a list of workarounds and troubleshooting steps for commonly reported issues.
Thanks again for playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC!
To say the least, Spider-Man 2 was released in a poor state on PC. Sony only released details like PC system requirements one day before launch. Now that the game has been released on PC, we have to wonder why Sony did not delay the game’s PC launch.
Sony needs to avoid issues like these with future PlayStation PC releases. Between this and the launches of The Last of Us Part 1, Sony has given themselves a bad reputation amongst PC gamers. If Sony wants their games to sell well on PC, they need to deliver high-quality PC versions. Let’s face it: Sony is already releasing these games late on PC. They don’t need to add insult to injury by releasing sub-par PC versions.
