Need an excuse to replay S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky? Now, thanks to the modding talents of Remaster Studio, PC gamers can now re-experience the classic PC first-person-shooter with revamped visuals, new graphical features and increased stability. Need I say more?

For starters, Remaster Studio’s fan-made S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky Remaster upgrades the game’s X-Ray Engine to 64-bit, allowing the game to run more efficiently on modern hardware and helps the game to support the new graphical features that the remaster adds to the game.

Texture-wise, much of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky has been updated to support 2K and 4K textures, with some areas featuring 8K textures, making the game look much better on today’s high-resolution screens.

Alongside updates textures, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky’s lighting system has also seen a major overhaul, offering players HQ Ambient Occlusion and Global Illumination. Add in soft shadows and grass shadows, and PC gamers will be able to replay Stalker with a huge graphical uplift.

Vegetation within the exclusion zone has also seen some major changes, with new textures, bump-mapped leaves and other notable changes. A reworked particle system also helps to increase realism within the game. Character models have also seen a significant increase in poly count, making every NPC and mutant a lot more detailed than before.

The only downside of this mod is that it isn’t available for free, at least not yet. The mod will be released in Moddb within the next few months, with access to the mod being restricted to Remaster Studio’s Silver Level Patreon supporters.  This Patreon Tier costs $5 per month.

Below is a trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky’s fan Remaster, which highlights the impact of the game’s new graphical features and updates.
