Star Wars: Battlefront II restricts the number of credits that can be earned in Arcade mode

EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront II is quickly becoming one of the most divisive games of 2017, showcasing a business model that appears to be downright greedy with loot boxes and in-game unlocks that can easily be described as pay-to-win due to their stat-boosting nature.

Consumers are understandably annoyed by this, with the general consensus being that EA has ruined what could otherwise be a great game thanks to the implementation of this monetization model.

Even after EA reduced the cost of in-game heroes by 75% it was discovered that the game’s campaign rewards were also lowered by the same percentage, allowing players to gain enough in-game credits to purchase Iden Versio, the game’s protagonist. Both pre and post-patch, the campaign offered enough credits to earn this Hero, though it is easy to see why fans were annoyed by this change.

One other annoying feature of the game is that while the game’s Arcade mode can be used to earn in-game credits, a restriction has been placed on this mode that will effectively limit how many credits can be earned in a certain timeframe. This limitation is something that is usually associated with mobile free-to-play games and is something that is can’t be seen as anything but greedy in a full-price AAA game.

This feature acts as a punishment for those that try to earn credits outside of online play, whether it be to purchase a few unlocks before venturing online or simply learning how to play the game. This change cannot be seen as anything other than an attempt to force players into purchasing in-game currency, as otherwise, EA wouldn’t be so stingy with their “in-game rewards”.
