StarCraft and Starcraft: Brood War are now available for free, with these new versions coming with several new features thanks to patch 1.18.

This new version comes with improved support for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, as well as improved anti-cheat capabilities. These new game versions are currently available to download from Blizzard, giving PC gamers a great chance to catch up on some classic RTS.

These new versions also feature support for windowed fullscreen and windowed modes, UFS-8, a new observer mode and a new OpenGL backend. All promising to improve the gameplay/competitive gaming experience.

StarCraft and Starcraft Brood War are now available for free

StarCraft: Brood War is a brutal RTS by modern standards and certainly not a game that is easy to play on a competitive level, though the game has easily withstood the test of time, maintaining popularity for around 20 years of competitive play.

Every fan of RTS games should play Brood War, even if just to appreciate how easy it is to manage large armies in modern RTS titles.
