Stardock launches Free Multiverse DLC for Star Control: Origins

Star Control: Origins is an ambitious title, one which promises to evolve over time to become PC’s premier space RPG, complete with both stock and fan-made content.

With update 1.1, Star Control: Origins improvements are twofold. First, there is the patch itself, which brings to the table new quests, new character voices and adjustments to both the game’s graphics and gameplay to improve the player experience. Think of this as extra polish to an already well-regarded game, with the Origins’ Multiverse free DLC acting as an extra layer of icing to sweeten the deal.

Star Control Multiverse DLC marks a major step towards this goal, updating the game after its first month on Steam of support Player Created Worlds, Quests and Characters to expand the game well beyond the title’s already impressive scope. With this update comes also comes Steam Workshop support, something which will make the sharing and distribution of player made content easy for both veteran PC gamers and relative newcomers.

Users of lower-end systems will be happy to know that Stardock has optimised several aspects of Star Control’s performance, particularly on planets, while also improving the appearance of several aspects of the game. The game’s combat AI has also been refined, which will make opponents appear smarter, and more challenging in many instances.

This update is only the first step of Stardock’s Star Control: Origins content roadmap, which refines the game while also opening the door to seemingly limitless content thanks to the efforts of the game’s fanbase.
