Studio Wildcard has doubled the price of Ark: Survival Evolved on Steam

Ark Survival Evolved will officially release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux on August 8th, after a long period of development on Steam’s Early Access program.

During Early Access the game was available for $29.99, with certain sales events making the game as cheap as $12 on occasion, though Studio Wildcard, the developers of the game have always stated that the game’s price would increase when the game officially launches.
Below is an excerpt from the game’s original Steam page.

the game will be lower priced through Early Access, relative to its final full-version retail price.

Today Ark Survival Evolved is available to Pre-order at retailers for every platform, with UK pricing of around £44.99 for the game’s console version. For pricing parity with retail versions of the final game, Studio Wildcard has decided to increase the price of their game on the Steam store from $29.99 in the US to $59.99 (£54.99 in the UK).

Those who bought Ark Survival Evolved before today will still be able to access all of the game’s official content at launch, with newcomers to the series getting no additional content.

Thankfully, those who have missed out on Ark’s reduced Early Access pricing will still be able to purchase the game for £22.99 on the Humble Store, who have not adjusted the game’s price yet.
