Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed

Warner Brothers and Rocksteady Games have confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed until February 2nd 2024, with Warner Brothers stating that Rocksteady needed more time to deliver the “best quality experience for players”.

Originally, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was due to launch this year on May 25th, and it is likely that response to the game’s February 2023 showcase has forced Rocksteady to rework some elements of their game. That said, six months is not long enough to change any of the core gameplay mechanics of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Based on the game’s February 2023 showcase, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will use the “Games as a Service” (GaaS) model, with the game relying heavily on equipment upgrades and less on skill based melee combat like Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham series games. In many ways, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s showcase felt a lot like Marvel’s Avengers, another GaaS title that failed spectacularly when it launched in 2020.

Currently, it is unknown what Rocksteady plans to do with their extra development time, or if any new trailers of gameplay releases for the title will be able to regenerate the hype that previously surrounded Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
