The first five episodes of Minecraft: Story Mode are free on the Microsoft Store

Minecraft: Story Mode episodes 1-5 are now available for free on the Windows 10/Microsoft Store, allowing PC gamers on Windows 10 to sample one of Telltale’s latest games for free.

This game was originally intended to be a 5-part episodic series, though over time the game was developed to have a total of 8 episodes, taking players from the Minecraft overworld to the Nether, the Farlands, the End, and beyond. Players will be required to purchase the game’s Adventure pass to access the final three episodes.

The game will only be available on the Microsoft Windows 10 store, making this demo exclusive to Microsoft’s Windows 10 OS, despite the fact that the game works on operating systems as old as Windows XP.

In this five part episodic series, you’ll embark on a perilous adventure across the Overworld, through the Nether, to the End, and beyond. You and your friends revere the legendary Order of the Stone: Warrior, Redstone Engineer, Griefer, and Architect; slayers of the Ender Dragon. While at EnderCon in hopes of meeting Gabriel the Warrior, you and your friends discover that something is wrong… something dreadful. Terror is unleashed, and you must set out on a quest to find The Order of the Stone if you are to save your world from oblivion.
