The Original Mafia has arrived on GOG, years after being removed from Steam
This rerelease somewhat confirms rumours that the game was removed from Steam due to the game’s soundtrack, as it was removed from sale 10 years after the game’s release, exactly when one would expect such a licensing contract to expire.Â

While this new version of Mafia is not the same as the original, lacking the game’s original soundtrack and coming with an easier “patched” racing section, this is a great move for digital game preservation, as Mafia is now available in a DRM free form that can be purchased legitimately.Â
Below are Mafia’s PC system requirements, which are stupidly low by today’s standards. though this game was originally released in 2002.Â
Â
Minimum system requirementsÂ
Windows: XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10
Processor: 1.4 GHz or faster
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 9.0
Mouse, Keyboard.
