The PC Gaming Wiki now has a Microtransactions Section
Where’s your save files located? The PC Gaming Wiki can tell you. How can I fix X bug? The PC Gaming Wiki usually has the answer. Is there an easy way to modify my game to offer a wider FOV or other extra options? If anywhere knows, its the PC Gaming Wiki.Â
Now, the PC Gaming Wiki has gained another useful feature, allowing you to answer the question “Does X game have microtransactions?” This will be especially useful for free-to-play titles, or games which feature expansion content or DLC packs.Â
With this update, PC gamers will start to see the PC Gaming Wiki updated to include detailed information about the microtransactions that are present within all major PC games, be it in the form of loot boxes, in-game currency, cosmetic items, paid unlocks or experience boosts.Â
This effort will help gamers to stay informed about the monetisation practices of today’s games, and help them to judge whether or not this content is worthwhile. In the first draft of updated PC Gaming Wiki articles, Apex Legends, Destiny 2 and World of Warcraft now feature detailed monetisation rundowns on their respective Wiki pages. Â
We are proud to announce that PCGamingWiki is launching a new microtransactions section in all of our PC game articles.ÂÂMany PC gamers don’t have a clue about what they are getting into before they install the latest ‘free-to-play’ game, ‘game as a service’ multiplayer shooter or new ‘live service’ singleplayer game. These games could contain manipulative loot boxes, hopelessly unfair grinds or game imbalancing pay-to-win unlocks.ÂÂAt PCGamingWiki, we want to provide absolutely clear information as to how each game is monetized and what microtransaction techniques are being employed. We want people to know whether the game includes solid DLC or expansion packs that deliver solid content post-release, or whether their game features real money gambling mechanics, or keeps their best content behind paywalls or premium subscriptions.
You can join the discussion on the PC Gaming Wiki’s latest features on the OC3D Forums.Â
