The PC version of Agony has an “optional patch” to remove the game’s “censorship”
A factor in this decision was due to the game’s use of torture, violence and nudity, all of which gave the game an “Adults Only” (AO) rating, which would prevent the game from being released on PS4 and Xbox One. After several discussions with game ratings companies, Madman has decided to tone down certain aspects of the game to get a Mature (M) rating, which will facilitate a console release. This change will allow Madman to keep their Kickstarter promises and release the game on PC, Xbox One and PS4.Â
PC, being a less restricted platform, has provided Madman with the opportunity to release a “special, optional patch” for the game’s Steam version, which will remove the game’s “censorship”, giving PC gamers an unrestricted gaming experience. The standard version of the PC game will be the same as Agony’s console versions, though no un-censoring patches will be available for Agony’s console versions. Â
Agony is a survival horror game set in hell, where players take the role of a tormented soul without any memories of their past. Gamers will have the ability to control the minds of people/creatures within the world, giving them the means to survive and hopefully escape.Â
