Total War: Warhammer 2: Rise of the Tomb Kings Gameplay Unit Roster

Rise of the Tomb Kings is Total War: Warhammer 2’s first major piece of paid DLC, delivering players a new faction with four Legendary Lords, unique battle/campaign mechanics and a different objective when playing the game’s Eye of the Vortex campaign.

Unlike the other new factions in Total War: Warhammer II, The Tomb Kings are uninterested in the Great Vortex of Ulthuan, instead coveting the Great Books of Nagash, powerful texts that will grant owners unique buffs and powers. Their goal is to possess all seven books, which are placed all around the world, ensuring that the Tomb Kings are always on the move.

Unlike Warhammer II new factions, The Tomb Kings will have Regiments of Renown, just like Warhammer I’s factions, while also retaining access to faction Rites. In addition to this the Tomb Kings will have access to Legions of Legend, units that will require a Tomb Kings specific currency to access but offer much more powerful abilities. This gives the faction a unique range of buffed units and abilities, making them a difficult faction to take on.

Creative Assembly has revealed the Tomb King’s full roster of units and has released the below gameplay video to showcase several of the units and abilities that the faction offers.

Unlike other Total War games, the Warhammer series is revolutionised with every faction release, changing the game’s campaign maps and delivering new gameplay dynamics, even for factions that you have already completed campaigns using. This isn’t like historical Total War titles where a new faction will offer mostly similar weapons and gameplay styles to existing factions, each new addition in Warhammer is unique, though the consequence is that the price of each new faction is often higher than expected.

Total War: Warhammer’s Rise of the Tomb Kings Campaign DLC will release on January 23rd. Those who pre-order this DLC will get a 10% discount on their purchase. The Tomb King’s full unit roster can be viewed here.
