Toys for Bob partners with Xbox to create their first independent game

Toys for Bob has finalised their partnership with Microsoft

Almost a month ago, Toys for Bob announced that they were becoming an independent studio. This move frees the studio from Activision Blizzard, and potentially averted the studio’s closure. The studio is best known for Skylanders, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s about Time. However, recent years has seen Activision squander this studio’s by primarily making them a Call of Duty support studio in 2021.

Now, according to Windows Central, Toys for |Bob have reportedly finalised an agreement with Microsoft that will see the company develop their first independent game. In their independence announcement, the studio told fans to “keep your horns on and your eyes out for more news”. This may suggest that Toys for Bob plan to create new Spyro game, though this has not been confirmed.

While Toys for Bob will continue working for Microsoft, its newfound independence has major upsides. For starters, the studio can build the games they want to create. Beyond that, they have been freed from the endless grind that is working on Call of Duty. Thanks to their partnership with Microsoft, the studio has the opportunity to work on many famed IPs, which is great news for a studio that is well known for high quality remakes and sequels.
