Ubisoft releases Assassin’s Creed III Remastered’s PC System Requirements

Assassin’s Creed III Remastered releases on March 29th on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, bringing with it a substantial graphical overhaul and a host of gameplay improvements, allowing the game to both look and feel better than the original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. 

Today, Ubisoft has released Assassin’s Creed III’s PC system requirements, letting us know how well the game will run over a variety of PC hardware configurations. Thankfully, the game is very easy to run by today’s standards, but perhaps not as easy to run as many PC users expected. 

On the graphics side, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered will ship with high-resolution textures and new physically-based materials, which when combined with the game’s new lighting engine allow the game to appear more realistic. Combine this with better vegetation detail, enhanced lighting quality, improved character models, modern skin shaders and increased crowd densities in cities, and gamers will receive enhanced visuals in almost every aspect of the game.

For 1080p 60FPS gameplay, PC gamers are expected to have an AMD R9 290X graphics card or a Geforce GTX 970 when using the game’s High Preset and for 4K 30FPS gameplay PC gamers are expected to use an Nvidia GTX 1070 or a Radeon RX Vega 56 or higher. With these specifications in mind, we would expect a Radeon VII or a GTX 1080 Ti to be required for 4K 60FPS, assuming that the GTX 1070 has little performance overhead. 

With these specifications in mind, it appears as if Ubisoft has pushed Assassin’s Creed III Remastered as far as modern consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 would allow at 1080p. That said, these hardware recommendations still seen a little high when considering the power of modern consoles. This leaves us expecting the console remaster to run at 30FPS, rather than the expected 60FPS.
