Ubisoft reveals Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s release date and 35 minutes of gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is due to release on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Stadia on November 17th, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at a later date.

At Ubisoft Forward, the publisher released a 30-minute gameplay walkthrough of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla alongside a shorter 5-minute gameplay overview. Both of these showcases featured developer commentary and revealed a lot about the upcoming game.

One of the main improvements to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla over its predecessors is game’s revamped combat system, which is designed to add more depth and variety to the game. Players will be able to utilise a wide range of weapons types and combat styles, including a dual-shield fighting style, which is shown on the gameplay overview below.

When travelling across England, players can move with a group of Viking warriors via longboat, docking their boat on seemingly any riverside to conduct raids. You can even have a cat in your longboat if you wanted to add a little feeling spark to your Viking journey.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will also see stealth become a larger element for the series, an aspect of the franchise which was sidelined after the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins. Like Altair, Eivor will be able to blend in with local environments, bringing a little more of the Assassin back into Assassin’s Creed.
