Valve releases over 20 minutes of gameplay footage for Half-Life: Alyx
Valve releases three gameplay videos for Half-Life: Alyx
Players will traverse the world and intuitively interact with objects, physically picking up health packs, locking doors, and solving puzzles with their hands, creating a level of immersion that’s unlike most other games.Â
The first of this series of videos has Alex travel through a darkened area of City 17, where Half-Life: Alyx’s teleportation travel option is showcased. In this area, Alyx will see headcrab zombies, and upgrade her pistol using a Combine fabricator. Â
 Â
The second of these videos highlights an area of the game which has been infested with Xen, where Alyx needs to solve puzzles to move forward while dealing with enemy barnacles and headcrabs.Â
In Valve’s 3rd video, Alyx is forced into combat with some Combine soldiers, showcasing how players can utilise the terrain for cover and utilise her gravity gloves and movable objects to create temporary cover. Both teleportation and normal locomotion are used within this video, as are several weapons like the pistol and shotgun.Â
The final video in this article comes via IGN, which showcases a longer section of gameplay which retreads some of the ground covered in Valve’s videos. It contains combat, level traversal and weapon upgrades.Â
