Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 says no to Denuvo and other DRM Software

No – Saber Interactive’s simple answer to the PC DRM question

The use of DRM (Digital Rights Management) Software on PC games is a controversial topic. Yes, we can see why game developers and publishers may want to protect their software from Piracy, but this protection comes at a cost. Denuvo, and other anti-tamper/piracy technologies have a cost, and that cost is a negative impact on a game’s performance. In their new FAQ about Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Saber Interactive had a simple answer to the Denuvo question; NO.

Easy Anti-Cheat will be used for the PC version of Space Marine 2 at launch, but Denuvo and other DRM solutions will not be present. This will be music to the ears of many Denuvo/DRM haters.

Why do PC gamers hate Denuvo?

Denuvo is a controversial anti-tamper technology that is designed to prevent the piracy of PC games. While preventing piracy is a positive thing for developers, Denuvo’s technology has been found to negatively affect the performance of games. Additionally, it also interferes with the modding of many games, another factor that makes the technology unpopular. Most conversations about Denuvo online involve PC gamers expressing their dislike of the anti-tamper technology. With this in mind, we can see why removing Denuvo’s tech from games is often seen as a popular move.

Space Marine 2 won’t feature Denuvo – What else should I know?

Saber Interactive have confirmed that the PC version of Space Marine 2 will not feature ray tracing. Additionally, the developer confirmed that the game would feature DLSS 2 and FSR 2 upscaling at launch. DLSS 3 and FSR 3 Frame Generation will arrive with a post-launch update.

Steam Deck users will be glad to know that official Steam Deck support is planned for the game. Sadly, this support will not be ready at launch. Steam Deck support is targeted for the end of this year.
