Windows 11 Only? Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Steam requirements confuse gamers

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is coming to PC on May 21st

At their latest Developer Direct event, Microsoft revealed that Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II would be released on May 21st 2024. At launch, the game will be available on both PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles, and will run on Unreal Engine 5.

On Steam, Hellblade II has been listed for PC. Strangely, Windows 11’s listed as the game’s only supported operating system. This could be a mistake from Microsoft and Ninja Theory. Alternatively, it could be a sign that the latest PC games may ditch Windows 10 in favour of Windows 11.

As an Unreal Engine 5 game and a first-party Xbox Series X/S title, Hellblade 2’s will be an audio-visual showcase. The game should utilise modern technologies like ray tracing and DirectStorage. It is also possible that the game may use other DirectX 12 Ultimate features. This includes Variable Rate Shading, Mesh Shaders, and Sampler Feedback.

Senua’s Saga has always been a graphically impressive title. While Windows 10 does support most of the features of Windows 11, Microsoft’s new OS does have its advantages. Stronger DirectStorage support is one of these advantages.

The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.

Sink deep into the next chapter of Senua’s story, a crafted experience told through cinematic immersion, beautifully realised visuals and encapsulating sound.

Expect Hellblade II to be a demanding game on PC

Hellblade II will be a demanding game. Even the briefest look at the game’s trailers suggest that the game will require modern PC hardware. Yes, the game is designed to run on Xbox Series S, but that does not guarantee that older pre-DirectX 12 Ultimate GPUs will run this game without issues. Alan Wake II has already proven that though its use of Mesh Shaders.

Will Senua’s Saga be Windows 11 only. We’ll know when Senua’s Saga’s finalised system requirements release.
