World War Z sells over 1 million copies – 250K were from the Epic Games Store
World War Z is a co-op shooter which is inspired by the blockbuster film of the same name, forcing players to team up against seemingly unstoppable hordes of zombies as they loot and shoot across a range of locations and missions.Â
On PC, Saber Interactive’s CES, Matthew Karch, has stated that PC sales are “performing well above expectations”, thanks to the support of the Epic Games Store, which has helped to give the game more press coverage and increased discoverability thanks to Epic’s curated games library.Â
Saber is extremely thrilled by the performance of the game on all platforms. On the PC specifically, we are performing way above expectations thanks to the support we have received from the Epic Games Store. Moving forward, weâll continue to work on growing the game and its community with new improvements, stability updates and bonus gameplay content, beginning very soon with a special new mission for the Tokyo episode.
Â
In the future, World War Z will receive updates and improvements, including a “special new mission” for the game’s Tokyo location. On top of this, Epic Games has confirmed that the Epic Games Store has experienced a record weekend thanks to the sales of World War Z, Satisfactory, Anno 1800, Metro Exodus, The Division 2 and the store’s other PC titles.Â
Love it or hate it, World War Z is performing well on the Epic Games Store, delivering Saber Interactive strong sales and a larger cut of the game’s revenue. Would the game have been more successful on Steam? Who knows, but we know that the game’s sales on Epic’s storefront are far from weak.Â
