CPU Guru Jim Keller joins Tesla Motors

 

Jim Keller, a key player behind AMD’s Athlon K7 architecture and AMD’s upcoming Zen CPU architecture has now joined Tesla Motors as Vice President of Autopilot hardware engineering, moving his mind from CPUs to the development of the safest and most advanced car autopilot systems in the world. 

Keller is very widely respected in the hardware industry, not only having worked on AMD’s most competitive CPUs but also architecting chips that have been found in millions of Apple products. 

 

    Jim Keller is joining Tesla as Vice President of Autopilot Hardware Engineering. Jim will bring together the best internal and external hardware technologies to develop the safest, most advanced autopilot systems in the world.

  Jim Keller joins Tesla Motors   

His role in Tesla will not be to develop in-house processing units for Tesla, but to transfer his skills over to to the Autopilot program, presenting a very new challenge to this industry heavyweight.
