1More Triple Driver Over Ear HiFi Headphones Review
Up Close – Headphones
The 1More Triple Driver Over Ear has an all metal construction that gives you a premium feel the moment you take it out of the hard case. We’re so used to even expensive headsets having large swathes of plastic in their build that the audiophile nature of the 1More feels like a significant step up.
For ease of portability and compactness the hinges fold the 1More as flat as you can realistically hope for. There is a solidity to this action that is very reassuring with none of the creaking or flexing that you might experience from headphones with lesser build quality.
The headband has a steel spine that resolutely refuses to buckle or warp no matter how much abuse we put it through. We got past the point where we were feeling comfortable applying this much torque and yet it still just sprung back as if you’d not touched it at all. Whereas many companies use headbands as their billboard we like the minimalist approach of a simple 1More logo used here. Classy.
It made us chuckle to see such large L and Rs on the inside of the ear pieces. With symmetrical headphones it’s very easy to get confused and have to peer at the inside of the hinge. There are no such issues here. The headband looks firm but is actually very forgiving and works well with the relatively light weight of the 1More to give a comfortable listening experience. This is aided by the plush ear pads.
The all metal construction is best exemplified by the hinges, with every piece being very rugged, and plenty of vertical adjustment available should you have a particularly odd-shaped head, or merely want to wear them over a hat.
The outside of the ear pieces is the only place that might divide opinion. It’s akin to some JDM wheels, the design of which you’ll either love or grow to ignore. We like the transparent nature of the middle allowing you to see into the back and that triple stack design though.
