Cooler Master H500M Review

Storage space, expansion slots and more

When it comes to storage, the H500M is no slouch, offering support for two 3.5-inch hard drives under the PSU shroud and up to six 2.5-inch HDDs or SSDs across several locations. While this isn’t enough for a large home server or some other equally crazy HHD-based storage array, it will be more than enough for most PC builders.

Two of the H500M’s 2.5-inch mounts are at the rear of the chassis around the center of the motherboard tray, with two on top of the PSU shroud/cover and another two between the motherboard and the case’s two front 200mm ARGB fans. In the picture below you can see that Cooler Master has built lots of cable covers into the H500M, allowing cables owners to manage their cables with the utmost discretion.

On the front of the H500M Cooler Master has integrated a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C connection alongside four USB 3.0 Type-A connections alongside standard audio in/out jacks. These options will allow users to connect everything that they need to the front of the chassis, though users will need a motherboard with an internal USB 3.1 Type-C connection.

Moving onto the rear of the enclosure, we can see that Cooler Master offers H500M users with seven PCIe slots alongside two additional slots designed for use with a vertically mounted graphics card. Cooler Master’s H500M does not ship with a PCIe extension, though this accessory is available from the Cooler Master store or from 3rd party retailers. Also, note that the rear 120/140mm fan can be moved to up or down depending on the user’s preference.

Integrated into Cooler Masters H500M is an adjustable GPU support bracket, which can be used to help prevent GPU sag within a system. Gravity will no longer be the bane of your graphics cards. Below you can also see the extensive range of fan mounting options that are available at the front of this PC enclosure.
