Lian Li O11D Mini V2 PC Case Review

Inside the Lian Li Mini V2

Up close with the Lian Li O11D V2

Starting at the top of the O11D V2 we have a removable panel that features an integrated dust filter. Sadly, this dust filter is not removable, which makes cleaning this filter a challenge compared with removable filters.

Once removed, we can see a mounting plate for 120mm and 140mm fans. Note that this mounting plate is removable, making fan installation an easy process.

Movable IO

At the top of the O11D Mini V2, there is a mounting position for this case’s IO plate. By default, this case’s IO plate is mounted at the bottom of the case. This is where these ports will be easier to access in a “case on desk” PC configuration.

Some fan filters are not removable…

As mentioned before, the dust filter in this PC case is not removable. This makes cleaning this dust filter a little more challenging. This is also a problem for users who prefer to remove top-mounted dust filters. After all, this area of the PC case is acting as an exhaust, not as an intake.

Bottom IO and air intake

Below we can see the O11D V2’s bottom-mounted IO plate. This IO plate can be removed and added to the top of this PC case. Note that removing this plate and the triangular plate beside it will give this case’s bottom-mounted fans more breathing space. This could result in lower thermals.

Glassy front and side

Like many modern PC cases, the O11D Mini V2 features glass panels on its front and sides. No curved edges or awkward cutouts, just straight, clean panels.

Big hardware in a small case

With Lian Li’s O11D Mini V2, Lian Li has made space for larger PC components. ATX motherboards can now be used alongside top-mounted 240mm and 360mm liquid cooling solutions. Furthermore, the case now support full-sized ATX power supplies.

Clever engineering enables ATX PSU support

With a small bulge on this case’s side panel and a cleverly used PSU mounting bracket, Lian Li’s new O11D Mini V2 case now supports full-sized ATX power supplies. Its predecessor only supported SFX and SFX-L PSUs. This makes Lian Li’s new V2 case much more versatile.

GPU support

This case ships with both a vertical GPU mount and standard PCIe slots. Note that with ATX motherboards, users of this case cannot mount GPUs on the “top” PCIe slot due to clearance issues. Note that most motherboards no longer use this PCIe slot. This area is now used for M.2 storage. Nevertheless, this means that some motherboard/GPU combinations may not be compatible within this case. However, this limitation only affects users of legacy hardware combinations (at least as far as we know).

Movable MATX and ITX motherboard mounts

Users of smaller motherboards will be able to move this case’s mounts up or down to suit their preferences. This can give more space at the top or bottom of this case for thicker radiators or other components.

One of this case’s dust filters is removable

The dust filter at the bottom of the Lian Li O11D Mini V2 is removable. However, this filter is only removable from the back of the case. This means that users of this case will likely need to move their PC case to access this filter.

The Lian Li O11D Mini V2 is a dual-chambered PC case

Being a dual-chambered case, the Mini V2 has plenty of space for cable management. Note that the central brace in this case can be used to mount two 2.5-inch HDDs or SSDs.

HDD mounts, or cable hiding locations?

Included inside the O11D Mini V2 are two removable 3.5/2.5-inch HDD mounts. Lian Li has designed these mounts to allow users to tuck cables inside these mounts. This makes cable management easier for users who no longer use hard disk drives.

The Lian Li O11D Mini V2 has easy cable management features

While Tom did not use them with this build, the O11D Mini V2 features several Velcro ties to facilitate easier cable management.

At the base of the O11D Mini V is a large grommet which can be used to simplify cable management. This allows cable connectors to be pushed out of the base of the case before re-entering. This allows cables to be routed under the base of ATX motherboards while maintaining a small case form factor. It also makes it easier for users of this case to mount an RGB lighting strip at the base of this case should they wish to.

Removable glass panels

The front glass panel of the O11D Mini V2 is removable, making the installation of large graphics cards an easy process. Note that this case supports GPUs up to 400mm long.

Note that this case supports up to three 120mm fans at this base. These fans are angled to deliver strong airflow to vertically mounted graphics cards. This angle has a minimal impact on the cooling provided to standard GPU mounts.

Lian Li O11D Mini V2

Overall, the Lian Li O11D Mini V2 is a compact case that somehow manages to support a massive range of potential hardware combinations. Its more versatile than its predecessor, despite its marginal increase in size.

GPU Support

Note that the O11D Mini V2 features a built-in GPU support. Sadly, this support only works on GPUs that are longer than standard ATX motherboards. This means that this support doesn’t support our old GTX 980 graphics card.
