NZXT Kraken X41 Review

CAM Software

The CAM software does not come bundled as such with the Kraken X41, but we highly  recommend you take advantage of the free download offered by NZXT.  Even if you're not running a Kraken product the CAM software in its basic mode as seen in the first two images below will allow you to have an at a glance view of all the main components in your PC.

This screen shot shows CAM in its basic mode (blue tabs) and shows system spec in the left hand panel.  The central panel here shows CPU or GPU heat as well as load usage for CPU, RAM, Net and HDD.  Below the central panel is a very handy notifications screen, which has the potential to highlight issues to the user before they become a major problem.  Over to the right We've isolated a single CPU fan speed graphic, but we could also flick between CPU performance GPU, RAM, Net and HDD.

Still in Basic mode we've altered the info given to us.  On the left we are now displaying an overview of system temps and voltages, while over on the right we're looking at all of our 6 available cores.

Switching to Kraken mode the tabs turn Green and more control is offered to us.  Here we've selected a custom fan profile and had a bit of a fiddle.  Clicking anywhere on the green profile line forms a control dot that can then be slid up or down as desired to form an overall profile.  In the central panel we now have temps for both Cores and Liquid within the X41 cooler while below we can set and monitor fan speeds as well as monitoring the auto adjusting pump RPM.

The profile on the left is the performance profile pre programmed into the Kraken, we of course do all our testing at the full 12v so as to bypass this entirely.  In the centre panel we're now looking at the control for the logo on the pump head.  Using RGB sliders the colour can be set to pretty much anything you want, with other tabs offering the option of solid colour, breathing between colours, blinking between colours, or breathing through the full rainbow of RGB colours.  A slider at the bottom enables the user to determine the High temperature warning colour and to decide at what temperature this should appear.  Of course if all this having to control and monitor your system from..you know, right beside it, is too much then you can always download the app to your mobile device and monitor it from the comfort of your cloud.

This cooler should make for a good GPU cooler as I'm sure it would beat air by a fair bitQuote

Thank you for the review Gary. I am wondering if using two fans in push pull might be in order. Thinking of getting one of these to cool the GPU in my H440 build. I have a G10 bracket in red just waiting to be used. I might wait and see what the X61 review looks like and then make a choice. The tubing can be easily routed to the front of the H440 and will be hidden by the HD mounting wall. I would love to see the X41 tested on a GPU with the G10 bracket like you did in your G10 review.

Thank you again.
