The Zenith Extreme comes equipped with the ROG DIMM.2 which is a M.2 adaptor bracket which fits into a DIMM slot to help keep the latency as low as possible whilst supplying you with brain melting amounts of bandwidth. Around the back the wealth of connections – USB 3.1, LAN, WiFi, USB 3.0 etc – demonstrate how deserving of the Extreme label the X399 Zenith is.
This is the first glimpse of the TR4 socket in all its glory and you can see what a work of art it is. An unbelievable amount of pins fill up the largest CPU socket we’ve ever seen. It’s so big, and the requirements so high, that you have to bolt your AIO to it. No simple clipping in here. It’s a beast. We have to say it isn’t often we see a CPU that is almost bigger than the credit card we use to spread our thermal paste.
