ASUS ROG Gjallar Soundbar Review

Introduction

We could get into a Gif/Jif debate here. Gjallar. Yallar? GJallar. We think it’s pronounced with the G as in Belgium, all like an Allen key, and ar like.. well are. What is beyond doubt is that it’s the latest soundware from the Republic of Gamers ASUS brand. The Gjallar is a soundbar with a massive, wireless, subwoofer along for the ride.

Firstly you might be forgiven for wondering why you’d need a soundbar, especially on your PC. As you’ll see on the next page one of the big selling points of the Gjallar is how compact it is. Soundbars make us think of the kind that fit with a giant TV. This is, by comparison, bijou. It would fit perfectly on your desk below a monitor, pumping glorious sounds into your ears with the minimum of fuss.

With a wireless subwoofer even the most space-poor user can find a happy home for it. It can be placed a surprising distance from the main soundbar and remote. Anyway, audio is for showing off, and listening to. You all know what a speaker is, so let’s crack on.
