The Aorus is certainly a recognisable box thanks to the combination of bird like logo and bright orange colouring. Since the SOC Force Gigabyte have used Orange on the majority of their premium motherboards and the Gaming 7 continues this trend. Yes as single bright accent colour is somewhat limiting, maybe they are just hoping to sell it to those that want orange or those of you out there that dont really care about how it looks? The rear of the box shows all the major features you’ll receive should you base your Ryzen system around the AM4 X470.

We will look at the various features more in depth on the next page, but for now just bask in the looks of the X470 Aorus Gaming 7. We think that the combination of a huge amount of lighting – which we’ll show you in a couple of pages time – and heatsinks that combine obvious utility with nice aesthetics lead to a very attractive motherboard.

VRM temperatures have been the weak link in some Gigabyte motherboards in recent years so it’s great to see them commit so much of their resources and effort into producing a motherboard with some serious fin acreage. The heatsinks absolutely dominate proceedings at the top end of the board. At least until it’s turned on.

Continuing the theme of keeping things cool, the Gaming 7 has two heatspreaders to keep your M.2 drive cool and operating at peak efficiency. Unlike a lot of these we’ve seen Gigabyte have gone all in on maximising surface area too, instead of just having a plain flat heatspreader.
