MSI X370 XPOWER Gaming Titanium Preview
The release of Ryzen has reinvigorated the market like few other recent launches. We’ve gone from a situation where, realistically, most people would pick Intel to one where you can buy whichever takes your fancy and not have to compromise. Indeed with the aggressive pricing of the AMD 1800X you can make a serious case that power hungry users are better off with the hardware from Sunnyvale.
Naturally when there is a new chipset on the market all of the manufacturers rush to tempt you with their wares, and the release of the X370 is no exception. As we’ve often mentioned in our coverage of the AMD Zen products though, the fact that the X370 supports all of the latest and greatest it makes it easier for the manufacturers to produce a variant of their already famous motherboards. Which is why we’re here with the MSI X370 XPOWER Gaming Titanium. A motherboard which seems to want to be a part of all of the MSI product ranges. The XPOWER used to be the black and yellow high performance model, the Gaming was the black and red … gaming board, and the Titanium was their one which came with all the technologies.
So which is the X370? Colours aside, it is all of them. So that moniker isn’t as silly as it is long.
As has quickly become the norm for the latest generation of AMD motherboards you can make a mental checklist of all the features that you want to find as part of your new system and tick them off as you go. The difference between the new X370 and the previous chipsets though is that when you make it to the end of your wishlist you find there is nothing unticked. This is brought into even sharper focus with the MSI Titanium, as you would expect from a motherboard at the top of their range. Therefore not only can you tick off the latest features such as DDR4, M.2, USB 3.1 and U.2 for all your high bandwidth needs, but you can also run through a few MSI specific features such as the Nahimic audio, Audio Boost, Lightning USB 3.1 ports and steel armour every where you look. Speaking of looking, let’s do that.
