MSI Z590 Gaming Carbon WiFi Review
Information about the latest Intel motherboards and chipsets is somewhat thin on the ground at the moment, but we know that you’re as eager as we are to at least catch a glimpse of the new products. So when two brown boxes arrived in the office containing MSI motherboards we wanted to get them photographed and beamed into your eyeballs at the earliest opportunity.
The Z590 launch reminds us of the Z370/Z390 days in which it’s more of a refinement of what’s come before instead of something entirely new. Given how well rounded the Z490 motherboards were it’s not a massive shock that these will be basically Z490s with PCI Express 4.0 and a few minor tweaks. We know how stupidly fast the PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives are from our experience on the AMD X570 platform, so adding that speed to the smooth Intel underpinnings should lead to a lot of fun and games.
As you know by now we have many Z590 motherboards to cover today, so rather than blather on about what it is – it’s a motherboard that supports 11th Gen Intel CPUs – let’s get down to business.
As befits a Z590 motherboard the Gaming Carbon ticks an awful lot of boxes when it comes to the new high performance elements Intel have added to the chipset. Blazing fast RAM speeds begin, but there are also high bandwidth options in the form of 3 M.2 slots, the PCI Express 4.0 that is the star of the Z590 show, and enough USB connections to keep even the most ‘peripheral rich’ user happy.
