EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW 2 Review
Conclusion
Last time we reviewed a GTX 1070 Ti it was the Zotac AMP! Extreme and boy oh boy did it cause a furore in our forums. The EVGA GTX 1070 Ti FTW 2 comes out of the blocks with an impressive showing. We liked that the packaging didn’t shout too loudly about which particular one of the four EVGA models it was. The clues are there, but it’s understated. In a world where shouting loudly seems to be the primary method of communication we like a little bit of subtlety. Once out of the box there is no denying that the iCX cooler really looks the part, with a gorgeous backplate and rugged, industrial facia. There are plenty of spaces for the RGB lighting to do its thing too and the whole cooler is exactly two slots wide. Perfect if you’re committed to running multiple cards, or just want the security of not having a card of indistinct width.
The overclocking capabilities of the card really shine too. EVGA make a lot of how committed they are to ensuring the power section of their products is of an extremely high quality, and the inclusion of a fuse helps assuage any paranoia you might have about pushing the card hard through their Precision overclocking tool. All of which helped the FTW 2 bring home the highest average GPU Boost Clock we’ve yet seen from a GTX 1070 Ti, just past the 2000 MHz mark. The results somewhat back up this clock speed too where the EVGA was consistently just a shade behind the Zotac AMP!. Naturally the consistency of nVidia GPU yield coupled to their automatic overclocking GPU Boost technology has long since meant that you get similar results from any card you choose to buy, but it’s always nice to know that the one you have is amongst the best and the EVGA certainly wont disappoint anyone.
With a whole host of features designed to let the user overclock the card hard without fear of going beyond the hardware limits, allied to the excellent iCX cooler which not only looks gorgeous with the RGB lighting in full effect but also keeps the card cool and quiet, there is an awful lot to recommend the GTX 1070 Ti FTW 2, and that’s why it wins our OC3D Enthusiast Award.
