MSI Optix MAG161V Portable Display Review
Up Close
Packaging for monitors is never the most exciting thing in the world, but in the case of the MAG161V what it does do is give you an instant inkling into the low weight of the display. Anyone who has purchased a large format monitor or television will know how big and bulky they can be, but the Optix is a featherweight in comparison.
The Optix MAG161V is supplied with three cables, a HEC HDMI with High Speed Ethernet which is just this side of witchcraft as far as we’re concerned and perfect for the applications best suited to this portable display format. Additionally there are two USB cables, Type-A to Type-C and one that is Type-C at both ends. From these you’ll get the power as the MAG161V has neither an external power supply nor internal battery.
It comes in a case-cum-stand that will be familiar to anyone who has owned a tablet. Perfect for keeping the display free from scratches when not in use and placing it at a good viewing angle when you’re using it.
As well as demonstrating the tremendously thin frame of the Optix you can see the power and HDMI inputs on the left hand side.
Whilst the right hand side handles power and audio, with a 3.5mm jack to compliment the built in speakers.
